Excel 2010 display distortion when opening files created by Excel 2003

Dear Mircosoft/ Microsoft Community,

My company's IT Department has recently upgraded from Excel 2003 to Excel 2010.

Our office users, who now use Excel 2010, have been frequently encountering display distortion when opening files created by Excel 2003.

Screenshot of display distortion example:

Expected working display:

We are fully aware of the following temporary work-around (Cut, copy, and sort inserted objects with their parent cells):

However, the setting does not 'stay' even when we have Save the file; meaning, the next time we open the same file or another file, the advanced option 'Cut, copy, and sort inserted objects with their parent cells' will be unchecked.

Please advise what we can do about it.

Is there a patch to fix this issue?

Are there any ways to make the changes to Options stay?

Thanks in advance.
