I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit, Service Pack 1) on an HP Touchsmart_610 1030f, with an Intel Core i3 CPU, 3.8G of RAM, and—believe it or not—an Intel HD Graphics card listed as the video driver.
This seems to mean that I have no video card aside from the CPU?
Is the Graphics Driver a virtual drive application run off of the core processor? This is a multi-question.
For this (or whatever) reason, I would like to update this touch interface to accommodate for complex visual calculations.
I currently have only 1696MB
maximum graphics memory (min of 32MB).
I would like to keep the two-point touch interface, and make this PC a high-grade gaming device.
Not only that, but creating digital art requires a large amount of video memory.
The interface is perfect for art and photo
editing, but the complex calculations in vector art, and filtering of large, layered raster files can cause crashes of applications like Adobe CS5.5; I do not have enough video memory to meet my needs.
The outcome should enable digital animation programs to
run as well.
The interface is revolutionary to the digital art fields, but the compromise needs to be fixed.
Should I replace the CPU and/or the video card? What video cards are compatible (and low profile-enough) to boost this computer? Should I cluster a
gaming tower to run with the Touchsmart? That sounds powerful and sexy.
Are there any recommendations for a gaming tower (Intel Core i7, not AMD) that has a video card compatible for boosting my system.
I do not want to simply use the Touchsmart as a monitor
either, I want the dual systems.
I am almost certain that I would like to cluster like this, because it will not be too long before I need an external hard drive for storing all of the large gaming and art files, as well as developer and digital art files.
How would I set that up to run the most efficiently with creative applications (Touch input is not used for games, which means that my games could be run straight through the external tower, so that's not the set-up issue.
The issue is expanding the creative
capabilities of this device.
