I have a spreadsheet file with 2 work sheets.  One is Summary and the other is
Worksheet.  The worksheet is used to compile numerous items into one total for numerous groups.  The Summary worksheet is to bring over totals for the items(labor, material, etc.) in order to show totals in simple view.  I want info to come
over to summary sheet automatically. 
 
Assume column A on both sheets is a number that corrosponds to both worksheets.  Like items 1 thru 10.  Column B is a description of the item.  Coulumn D is for labor, Column E is for material, etc.  If I assign a item on my Summary sheet
1 in column A, I want to search Worksheet column A for a matching value(1).  If a match, then I want the column D value from Worksheet to go into column D in bid sheet. 
Thanks for any help, I am having trouble figuring it out.

Try using this formula in D1.  As you haven't stated your columns have headings I wrote it to work in row 1 downwards for 10 rows.
 
=IF(NOT(ISERROR(MATCH(A1,Worksheet!$A$1:$A$10,0))),VLOOKUP(A1,Worksheet!A1:$E$10,4,FALSE),"")
 
but you can always adjust the cell references.
