Myriad of Windows 7 64 bit issues with display
Some of the issues may be software compatibility; others may be glitches.
I have thoroughly updated all system updates and drivers.
MS based programs that will not display without fighting my way through (aka multiple open & shut attempts):
IE 9 - this even includes About Internet Explorer window
Windows Help & Support
Windows Live Mail
Issue with ALL of these: Open window normally displays nothing.
Get frame but blank contents.
Can conjure up About IE9 window for instance, but display is then 'undone' when I bring it back to the foreground.
If I drag it and move its screen position,
it leaves a trail of itself littered across the screen.
I'm sure the nature of their displays are vastly different from above, but simple interfaces like dxdiag and DOS command prompt are fine.
Installed games that seemingly run in 'spasm' mode are Dragon Age Ultimate and Lego Universe.
Both games fully install, but the interactive screens are jumpy with audible dialog running over each other.
Very jittery -- as though they are trying to automatically
sprint their way through the menu and game screens.

Solutions to the Problem Myriad of Windows 7 64 bit issues with display
Turning off system sleep mode has been the cure. The updated HP drivers were already installed (I saved most of them to an external drive prior to upgrading to Win 7).
I was able to recreate the symptoms by manually setting my machine to sleep for a couple/few hrs. Upon resurrecting from sleep, all Windows products were having display issues, and the games were behaving & displaying terribly. A simple restart, and the
symptoms were gone.
Something is not being properly re-activated upon sleep resurrection. Wish I could say what that is but nothing good pops into the error/warning logs.
In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.
- Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
- Click on Boot Tab
- Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
- Select Network.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Reboot your System.
