try to connect pc has sky broadband reconised but when i input the network key and press connect it says it cannot connect to server

Are you using a net gear router to connect?
As the error message is related to connection of the server I would suggest you to contact the broadband service provider for further assistance on the issue.
The issue seems to be with the connectivity to the server which only the service
provider may assist you resolve.
