Build a Custom Cover Page

I built a custom cover page from scratch using text boxes and fields.  I created two large text boxes--one that covers the top 2/3 of the page while the other covers the bottom 1/3.  I then formatted those text boxes with shading, line styles, etc.  Within
those text boxes I added smaller text boxes so that I could move things around, and within those smaller boxes I added fields for the author, document title and abstract.  I then used grouping so that I can move multiple items as a single unit.

While this worked I found it to be very cumbersome and difficult to work with.  The process is not as flexible as I would like.  I'm hoping that I've missed something and that there is actually a better way to build a custom cover page.  What I would like to
see is something akin to building a dialog box in the VB editor, where text label, fields, etc.
can be placed as desired on a form and then formatted and given default values.  Is there anything like that for building a custom cover page?

Also, when my custom cover page is inserted into a new document that has not yet been saved all the fields, except for the Author field, are blank.  I know that these are pulled from the document properties, and that the reason the Title field, for example,
is blank is that an unsaved document does not yet have a title.  Is there a way to give the Title field a default value so that it will show "[Type the title here]" when the cover page is inserted into an unsaved document?

• You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
