Change the Letters into asterisk while typing in the cell!!

Hi All,

I am creating excel workbook in order to produce the XML file.
I want to create a column called password so each cell contain a password then which then extract into my xml file.
problem is some how I need to hide the whole cell (Password Column).
is there
any way to change the letters into asterisk while typing (ex:l account password will trun into asterisk while typing )? then it should get the original data when to create the XML file.

I looked for passwordchar but it can be only used in the form i am correct.
and I don't want to protect the whole sheet.
any idea how i can protect / hide the words into asterisk.
